Shane and his coworker Matt had to go to Pennsylvania for work so we decided to make a weekend out of it and go in to Manhattan. We spent 2 1/2 days go, go, going and managed to see most of the city on top of the big red bus. The people giving the tours did such a good job and I am glad that is the route we chose for us. We walked a lot also, thankfully, because it was Freezing! Matt and Michelle were fun traveling partners.
Central Park. What a beautiful place in the center of that giant city. It was winter for sure, but still it felt like I was stepping onto another world from those busy streets with high rise buildings everywhere.
Time square. It was so crowded and just like it looks on TV. It is amazing the amount of people that just quickly walk by and around each other, hardly even noticing anyone else is around.
Michelle wanted an expensive bracelet from Tiffany's, so we had the pleasure of being treated like the rich and famous and served our Hot Chocolate in expensive little cup and saucers. They guy had an accent that we weren't sure was real or fake, but it sure made us feel special and out of place for sure.
Rockefeller center. I was looking forward to seeing the giant Christmas tree, that was right behind all of that scaffolding, waiting to be revealed later that week. The ice skaters were pretty neat there in the center though.
This is inside the Oculus. It is a new building at the base of the where the twin towers were hit. It has amazing architecture and is very fancy. It is where you get off the subway to go to the 911 museum and see the new tower. For me, this was my favorite part, the museum. It was moving to see all the devastation and the rebuild that has gone on since that horrible day. We spent hours there, and easily could have spent more time reading and soaking in the feeling of that day.
We took a boat ride out to see the statue of Liberty. She is a beauty and very very big.
911 memorial. The fountains are beautiful and there are names of everyone killed that day--thousands of people.
