Facer Family Photos 2014

 Shane took some photos of us with the tripod on the first Sunday in November, and I think they turned out GREAT!  He is a master of Photoshop, and so any old pic can be turned into a masterpiece.  Everyone cooperated and it was really cold, so we were fast and furious.

Grandma Boss' Funeral

Grandma Boss (my mom's mom) passed away on October 30th.  She was living at a rest home, and had been for about 5 years.  Her memory was gone, and it was sad, but a really good thing especially for her.  Now she can be freed from her forgetfulness and be with my grandpa once again.  The funeral was beautiful, my mom and her sisters did a great job honoring her.  My sweet Braxton even got up during open mic and told of how he loved going to her house with our cousins Wendi, Will, and Drew and play on her swing set and throw grapes at each other.  It was so sweet, and he was so brave.  I would never dare do that, I am too emotional.

Randomness

Dakota fell asleep on the couch reading his book.

Braxton's girlfriends from school toilet papered us.  I was so excited, it brought back the good old days.  I loved doing this as a 5th and 6th grader.  I am thinking it is time for me to take him out for his 1st toilot papering to pay some of these cute girls back.

We had two tragedies at Grandma Jo's while doing the remodel.  Shane took 3 of his tips of his fingers off with a small hand planer.  It was nasty!  He almost passed out, but Doctor Jill (the nurse and really good friend next door) took care of him and wrapped him all up.  The next tragedy was much more expensive as Braxton ran his tooth right into a 2 x 4 that they had hanging in a tree as a swing.  It chipped his tooth right off.  He had to have a root canal and a buildup with a future crown.  It only cost $600 (I was expecting at least $1000), but it still hurt me A LOT.  It hurt Braxton too, but mostly just shocked him and made him not ever want to go into public again.  The dentist fixed him up fast on a Saturday at an emergency visit and he looks great.

Shane and I were going to be out of town in Hawaii for Cam's birthday this year and boy did he let us have it in the guilt trip.  So we celebrated the Sunday before with presents, a pinata, and cake and Ice cream.  We even took family pictures this day too and ate together, so it was a busy busy day.  He spent his actual birthday with Becky going to Boondocks and having cake at her house.  She really made him feel special on his 7th birthday.

Pumpkin Carving 2014

We had the family over again for our annual pumpkin carving.  This year we had sold out completely by the time they came, so if you already had a pumpkin you could carve, but no extras.  The boys are getting old enough that they pretty much do it on their own (Yeah!!).  Grandpa Brent always helps Dakota, it is their tradition.

Shane, Lisa and I made caramel apples while everyone else carved, except Neil who took a nap on the couch with Weston's baby Barrett.

Grandma's Remodel

Here are some before and after pics of grandmas house remodel that has consumed us for the last 2 months.  We started on Labor Day weekend, and went straight through until we had renters move in on November 1st.  We prayed and stressed over renters, but we really fill like the right people were sent to us and hope they stay a while.  Above is the cabinets that were yellow before and we painted them all white.  Below is after we took off the wallpaper, which was quite a pain, but it was our first project, so we were excited about it.  The boys helped all day and were such troopers, by the end all they wanted to do was stay home and play once and a while with their friends, but I cant blame them it was hard work.

Bathroom, after ripping out the old tile board.  That was the biggest heartache of the whole process.  We had to mud and paint that before hanging new tile board, and then the glue did not stick well and caused an 3 day adventure on one little project.

Kitchen during the whole thing.  The cabinets are painted, but the floor and walls are not yet done.

Shane and the new kitchen floor. It was pretty easy to lay, and looks beautiful.  It was fun for Shane and I to spend his days off together working on projects.  We could get a lot done that way, without having to try to keep the kids busy.

Cabinets completed and rehung.  Dad and Mom and Tara helped us a ton with the cabinets as well as other projects around the house.  Kiley and family also helped paint the cabinets.  Lots of dinners right there on that card table as well as on the back patio.

Mark Weese did all the painting (except the cabinets).  He worked hard and put in many hours to make the house look so nice when he was done.

Finished kitchen.  Moved the washer and dryer out of the kitchen, new floor, painted cabinets, put in a dishwasher, and new paint everywhere.

With the new carpet.  I think the carpet is so beautiful and really brings everything together.  Shane redid the front entryway, so that is original hardwood.  

This is one of the bedrooms, we did not redo the hardwood, only cleaned and shined it, but I think it still looks really nice, she took great care of her house.  It was built in 1958, so it just needed to be updated.  Shane put in countless hours redoing the entire house.  New water heater, tons of new electrical, whole new bathroom, the list goes on and on, but it turned out great!
