T-ball

Braxton started T-ball a couple of weeks ago, and he is having a really good time. One game he twirled circles the whole game, but other than that, he seems to pay attention and is learning new things. Two nights a week is pretty intense, but it only lasts 5 weeks, so we can handle it.

Irrigation

Remember the days when seemingly everyone in Plain City flooded their lawn. Well we are amongst a dying breed of folks who don't have secondary water, and it brings my children nothing but pure Joy. I took pictures of Cameron's first "gator" (short for irrigation), as Braxton and Dakota like to call it, and the pictures don't even show the excitement he felt when he realized everywhere he went on the lawn was a huge puddle of water. He was so happy. Little boys love puddles!! We ran around in it for two hours before having to run off to T-ball, but I am sure they could have stayed out all night. Now for the next week, I will hear "When do we gator again?", "Can we walk the ditch with dad?". I love having a little glimpse of my childhood to share with my boys.

Pay Off

Last night at dinner, Braxton finished before anyone. Shane asked him if he wanted to get down and play to which he replied, "No I'd rather just sit here and talk". Then he proceded to tell us all about his day. When I have a child who struggles all day with listening and obeying, that makes it all worth while when he just wants to talk. :) Also, sometimes (well most of the time) I really hate to cook, but that also makes it seem worthwhile.

Mother's Day

I was sitting here reading other blogs about Mother's day and feeling very grateful for their words of inspiration and it made me feel very happy that I am a mom. Lately I have been feeling like this motherhood thing is very doable. My boys are all growing up and beginning to obey slightly (on most days), no one has to be nursed, the bum changing is getting much easier and fewer, the accidents are decreasing, they are helping around the house, they are helping around the yard without complaint, school is almost over for the year, and many other things that are just making me smile this time of year and of my life. I love babies, but this little-big kid seems so much more doable. I suppose it is like everyone says "the season for everything."

Shane spent hours putting together a movie for me for Mother's Day from my children. It is the most beautiful thing anyone could have ever given me. It started out when we were dating 11 years ago, and went through our wedding (10 yrs ago August), and then went through each of our boys up until today. I, of course, cried through the whole thing and have never felt happier. He is getting so thoughtful the longer we've been married and I am so glad I am the recipient. I often feel like all we do on holidays is run around, I am not sure where the relaxing comes in, but I had a very nice day.

I love being Braxton's Mom because:
He shares freely. When he gets a treat from his soccer, he automatically hands one of them over to Dakota. No one asks him to or tells him to, he just loves to think of his brothers. He even tells Dakota that his papers from school were made especially for him, even though they are writing letters or number papers, it makes Dakota's day.

Dakota's Mom:
He HAS to dance at the end of every movie when they play the credits. If we turn off the movie to early, he is very upset. I love to watch him, and often join him in the fun.

Cameron's Mom:
One day when Braxton and Dakota were tormenting each other Braxton took away Dakota's car and Dakota had a fit, Crying and falling on the ground. Two seconds later Braxton dropped the car, and Cameron went and picked it up and brought it over to Dakota. It was the smallest act of kindness from such a small child, I couldn't believe he could empathize at such a young age.
