Sweet Boys

We were going to walk to the church yesterday and were late (as usual) and Dakota comes running back from down the street saying "Wait, I cant go to church yet--I owe the Lord money."  Nothing makes a mom's heart smile more than when one of the kids catches on to something and remembers all on his own :).

Cameron fell asleep during sacrament meeting.  When Shane brought him back from waking up in Sunday School he told me that he was in the adult class and why wasn't I in that class.  I told him that I needed to be in Primary with all my best friends.  He looked at the whole group and asked "All these kids are your best friends?"  Yes, Cameron, Yes they are all my best friends and there is no other place I would rather be!!!

June happenings

June so far has flown by and I have taken very little pictures of the happenings.  The boys have been out of school for nearly a month and it is so fast.  Last week was a bit rough, lots of fighting and making bad choices, but we all talked and decided this one will be better.  We have played many a baseball game, with games on Mon thru Wed, sometimes two on Tues.  It keeps us hopping.  Shane is the cub den leader so he also has that on Wed night, which is the night I work, so he takes all the boys.  He is getting pretty good at that actually, they are getting so big.  

 One of my favorite things about being a mom is reading to my boys.  We FINALLY finished BFG, which was a good book but very difficult for me to read.  The BFG (big friendly giant) speaks very incorrectly and my brain could hardly read it out loud without fixing the grammar mistakes.  We only read a few pages at a time before I was tired of it each night.

 Braxton decided that after a year and a half, that he was ready for his own bed, so we moved him out!  He loves his new room and Dakota says he "misses him a little bit".  I like the openness it provides in each of the two rooms, much nicer.  Also Brax actually goes to bed instead of talking off the ears of both the boys.  He also reads in his bed before coming out in the morning making it much easier on the chores.

I was out cleaning up the yard and pulled a weed in the sand box and this is what came up--an Indian corn from last that had taken root and was growing in the sand box. We took a photo and texted it to Tara because she is quite obsessed with science.  It was really cool, growing on both ends.  

 This is a picture Braxton made in 3rd grade that I wanted to have in my book.  It is his silhouette with words to describe himself.  My favorite is Monkey--he is such a monkey and we tell him that all the time, but he is all of those other words and many more.  Handsome and sweet are a couple I can think of.

We have baby killdeer in our pumpkin patch (I am touching one--there are 4 if you look close).  Shane tilled around the eggs a couple of weeks ago and they hatched on Friday.  Shane has taken about 50 pictures and many videos of them, it is pretty exciting for him.  I teased him he was more excited about this birth than the other 3 babies we had in the past.  Just kidden, but he does love nature he says.

Father's Day

This year we decided that Fathers day is usually about everyone except Shane, so we celebrated a week early and surprised him with a nice Breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy LAST Sunday.  Then the kids gave him their cards and we played this fun M&M game while we ate.  Shane took a nap before church and we relaxed later.  To me that is what fathers day is all about, not all the running around we did yesterday, even though we do love seeing all our Dads and Grandpas.

It turned out to be a fun game, especially the Hum a tune one.  We all took a turn playing that.  It was cute.  Shane is a great dad and a great example to our boys, they are so lucky to have him.  We love you Dad and Grandpas!
