March happenings

Grandma and grandpa montgomery gave us a snow one machine for Christmas and we broke it out Sunday. It was yummy!

Dakota had to do a parade float as part of the achievement fair for 4th grade. He had Daggett county. Funny I saw another mom in the hall and she asked me "did you get your project done" and I had to laugh because they are really patent projects. A lot of work, but good bonding time I suppose. Cameron had yellow eyed penguins and braxton had Christianity.  They both had to do a poster. Braxton found it interesting how much that religion is just like ours. But some differences. It was a good research paper for him. 

I had the privilege of going to the environmental center with dakota. We had a great time. I love how much he wants me there. He asked me to take the pics. He was a dead eye on the archery. He got all 4 arrows in the target. He thinks I owe him a shake for that one. We will see. 

Dakota had a bad headache from a bad day at school and this is how I found them. Laying in the laundry room, Braxton trying to help him feel better. Such good friends. 

Rock Hounding 2015 Topaz Mountain

Year #2 of our trip to Topaz Mountain to find geodes and Topaz.  This year we took quite a crowd.  Tara, Brent and Rebecca, Lisa and Neil with Chelsea and Landon, Cody and Shannon and Tanner, and Cody's friend Brian and his family.  It was a really good time.  We did not find as big of geodes, but some really cool small ones.  Cameron literally walked around all day and gathered cool rocks and filled up a huge bucket full of broken pieces.  Every time he said "look mom, this one is so cool", then moved on to another one after gaining my approval.

The topaz was a little harder to find, and I didn't have much patience for that.  The boys like it, and persisted much longer than I did, besides it got cold and I hate freezing for no reason.

Tanner was a trooper, he had a great time with his Papa finding treasures.  Cody found this honey hole where he pulled out a whole bunch of Topaz.

Spring is here

Braxton is going to try Lacrosse this year for the first time.  He is really excited, and I am really nervous.  It is a bit more of a contact sport than I like, but he has been wanting to play forever.  He is also possibly not going to play baseball this year, which freaks me out because I love to watch him play baseball, It is his best sport and he is a great pitcher.  Sometimes though, it is possible to be too busy and we must choose right?  Man even as I type that I still want him to play baseball, I would give up any of the other sports, baseball is the funnest to watch.

Braxton's Basketball team.  He has played with these same kids for about 3 years now, and they are really working together as a team.  They had a great season.  Their coach bought them all medals that were engraved.  Pretty neat.

Cameron's first year of basketball.  He did a great job learning and understanding the sport.  Just when we finish playing one sport, it is on to the next.  I just signed up for baseball today and Soccer starts this Saturday.  My sister-in-law asked if that is all we do every weekend, and I said yes, it is my season.  Right now she changes diapers all day and I run around in the car all day and watch many many sports games.  It is our seasons.  5 years from now it will be so different, and we must appreciate the one we are in.

Braxton's NOVA graduation.  6th grade participated in NOVA, a program to teach values, opportunities, accountability, and drug and alcohol resistance.  They learned a lot and got a certificate.  I love programs like this in schools, especially at such a vulnerable age.  Side note--he did not invite me to this graduation.  He was shocked that I was there, and I tried not to be offended, but it hurt a bit.  I guess I will get used to him not wanting me around, such is the life of a teenager.  

More February

Dakota's Basket ball team 2015.  He did a great job and improved on his being aggressive this year.

It was Kiley's 30th birthday and we celebrated at Golden Corral.  The balloon man was there and made the kids these creations.

Random February

Cameron played 2 sessions of indoor soccer this year with all his buddies from the neighborhood and church.  He loved it and really began to like soccer.  He usually made 1 goal per game, but sometimes even made 2.  He was really good at staying in the center so they could cross it to him and kick it in.

I was able to go to Cam's field trip to the Treehouse Museum.  I was over 4 cute kiddos and loved seeing them explore. I got to see a wild side of Cameron when he is around the girls.  He loves those girls, I hope it is an age thing.

 It was the 6th grade Valentines dance, and I was informed the "Moms come and take pictures."  It was so fun.  They still do a dance card just like when I was a kid where all the boys ask someone then all the girls ask someone.  They cant say no so no ones feelings get hurt.  It is all 50's style and very very fun, no pressure.  Braxton hung out with his best bud Ryan Athay, and his other friends Sadie and Cindy during most of the dance.

Harlem globetrotters.

For Shane's Birthday on Februray 2nd Becky took all of us to see the Harlem Globetrotters, which was a blast.  It is a whole basketball game/show that they put on and we laughed and really had a great time.  The kids and Shane got to go down on the floor before the show began and shoot a hoop with the Globetrotter and also take some photos with them.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a memorable evening.

Cub scouts

Shane and I are called to the cub scouts in our ward. We actually really like it. It is every Tuesday night for years now, but our boys go with and it is kind of like a family activity. This night we did bridges with toothpicks and dots. They really enjoyed it. Dakotas group made a band in the bottom photo and showed all of us their skills. It was really fun.
