Our Valentines Tradition, the Valentini. Carrera was so cute she woke up that morning and said "Dresden, its your first Valentini today". We sure love having a tini snack together every year to celebrate love. We also asked all the kids who their crush is and it was funny how some kids just told us his or her name,others claimed to not have a crush, while others turned beet red and did not say a thing.
The kids insist on those little treetop apple juices, and this year we had little sandwiches, little cookies, little wieners, little cheeses, and little cupcakes.
There was a literacy night at the elementary school. Everything was free and it was so fun and the kids learned a lot. We had read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and there were a lot of activities including one where you went into the TV like in the book and got to experience a whole bunch of snakes, spiders, and gross creatures.
My handsome Dakota had his sixth grade dance. He got all dressed up in his 50's attire and danced the day away. He hated the picking of the partners process and cried that day a week before the dance, but he had a blast the day of. They did the bunny hop, the hokey pokey, and learned how to dance with girls in a fun way that was not threatening or intimidating.

This is Dakota's artwork that he entered into the contest for the yearbook. He did not win, but I am sure his was the best one because Dakota made it and he put his heart and soul into it.
Everyone with their Valentine boxes at the elementary school on Valentines day. Dakota's tank was the big winner in the 6th grade contest.
That valentini sounds like such a fun tradition. And I'll bet it's so fun to have your kids do the same school traditions you did when you were their age! Like The 6th grade dance and first thanksgiving. It's fun for me to see your posts about them.
